Head of a powerful pharmaceuticals company, Damon Morelle married Ashly Croix, the widow of the (presumed dead) Kevin Trench, aka Nightwatch. However, when they had a son, Nolan, they discovered that he had a deadly skin disease with no know cure. In order to save their son, Damon put all of his company resources into Project: Sharkskin, an attempt at using nanomachines to create an artificial epidermis for Nolan. In order to fund the project, Damon decided to woo investors by also working on military applications of the technology as they developed its medical functions.

Morelle's Project: Sharkskin went through several iterations, creating the equipment used by Nightwatch and Salvo in the process. However, they did eventually create a prototype that they thought would work to save Nolan. This would however, require a vastly destructive amount of chronal energy. Damon spirited Nolan away to his orbital base to carry out the procedure.

Although Damon knew that the chronal "timebomb was incredibly dangerous to earth, it was a risk that he was willing to take. It was not however, a risk that was acceptable to Warbringer, a future version of Nolan from a timeline where the timebomb had killed Ashley. Warbringer killed Damon and set about stopping the timebomb with the help of Nightwatch.
