DJ
DJ is a mutant student at the Xavier Institute and a member of the Paragons. He was de-powered after M-Day and killed in the bus bomb attack. Only recently has he been resurrected, living on Krakoa.

DJ's birthplace and past is unknown. He eventually came to the Xavier Institute to learn more about his mutant powers.
Creation
DJ was created by Nunzio DeFilippis, Christina Weir and Randy Green and first appeared in New X-Men Academy X issue 2 (2004).
Major Story Arcs
Joining Xavier's.
When DJ joined the School, he became a member of the Paragons squad of the Xavier's institute. He had black hair, earlier in the series, his hair was longer but later was usually gelled with his fringe up.
His powers were never really explored as we saw little action from the Paragons. Mark was very flirtatious and said that his favorite things thing is girls... all kinds of girls.
M-Day and Death
DJ was one of the many students depowered after M-day. He, and fellow mutant Preview were the only ones of the Paragons that were depowered. After no longer being mutants, the former mutants left the school, with a few busses taking them back home. However, Preview did not board the bus. Unfortunately, DJ was killed on the bus which was blown up by William Stryker's Purifiers whom undertook an assault on the Xavier Institute. When X-23 heard someone shouting "Help me!" she followed the voice. She found an-almost-dead Mark, with blood all over his mouth and abdomen. Elixir was unable to heal him and DJ passed away.
Krakoa and ressurection
When the X-Men formed the Mutant-nation of Krakoa on the likewise named island of Krakoa, the mutants unlocked the secrets of ressurection. As such, allmost all (former) mutants that where killed, where ressurected by a group of mutants known as The Five. This also was the case for DJ, whom after being ressurected, remained on the island nation. When DJ, freshly ressusrected, told Rachel Grey about his powers, she commened that she would introduce him to Dazzler, since she would love the guy.
Powers
Prior to his depowering by the decimation of mutants, DJ could gain different powers by listening to different types of music. For example, classical music allowed him to generate force fields, rock music created destructive energy blasts, dance music allowed him to manipulate light. Gospel music gives him the ability of flight. He carried an MP3 player around with him, even when he was depowered.
