During 1,000 B.C., the most common mutation among Inhumans was wings which led to then King Nestor to create Aerie, a gargantuan tower where his winged people could live. However, soon enough the winged Inhuman grew to dislike their land dwellers and were about to go to war when Cheiros, the only one with red-bat wings, opposed the idea. The then leader of the pseudo Bird People, Kylus, believed Cheiros to be an idiot and traitor and had him tortured to death. When the human pilot ended in Aerie centuries later, he was given the wings of Cheiros as a way to restore their lost honor when they slew him. He used these wings to become the Red Raven.
