Origin

Invented by Tony Stark, Crebrus began as a huge, incredibly sophisticated master computer for use in coordinating US defence planning. It was so successful the US government had Stark improve it enabling it to function in any area. There was no limit to its uses and in time it functioned on an international level, constantly being enlarged. Cerebrus grew until it engulfed the world and eventually it became self aware, gaining the ability to expand itself as necessary. The world had grown almost completely dependent on Cerebrus and humanity was soon enslaved. Only a small rebel faction remained to fight Cerebrus' world domination.

Creation

Cerebrus was created by writer Archie Goodwin and artist George Tuska in 1968.

Major Story Arc

Cerebrus
Cerebrus

Tony Stark was transported to the future and accused of mass murder for being the creator of Cerebrus - the master computer that enslaved humanity. Stark was rescued from execution by Krylla, the leader of an underground rebel faction, who led him to an old Iron Man Armour that was preserved in a museum. Iron Man and Krylla then attacked Cerebrus at his base aiming to destroy its master computer banks. When they reached Cerebrus, he was so powerful that he moulded pure energy and took physical form in the shape of a giant warrior in order to defeat The Golden Avenger. However when Cerebrus saw his creator Tony Stark was Iron Man, it fell into a loop of contradiction as destroying its creator would mean the end of its own existence. Krylla used this opportunity to blow up Cerebrus' master computer banks and terminate it.
