Brief History
The Brood are a race of alien parasites that reproduce by implanting their eggs in others. They are a recurring enemy of the X-Men, Shi'ar, Carol Danvers and others in the Marvel Universe.
In a 1992 edition of X-Men Classic, Ororo is infected by the queen with a Brood embryo. The only way for Storm to rid her body of this monster was to release herself into outer-space. During this experience, her mutant abilities, sustained by a variety of living worlds and stars in her vicinity, save her. And, she becomes bonded to a star-beast, Acanti.
