Alynn Cambers was the first love of Ben Grimm (later Thing)  during his college years. She dropped out of school to pursue an acting career and didn't even bother to tell Ben. He tracked her down and proposed marriage, only to be rejected. She later did become a star.

When Alynn suffered a disfiguring stroke which ended her career, she contacted Ben for consolation.
