Martínez el facha is a character created for the Barcelona humor magazine El Jueves, a satire similar to the US's MAD. Martínez is a rightist and a franquista (follower of Francisco Franco), easily called a fascist by readers who understand Spanish history, and since the 2000s arguably a neoliberal. Martínez blames the left "los sindicatos," "los de la izquierda" and immigrants for Spain's economic woes and tries to restore the values of the 20th century Spanish dicatorship.
