Westerner was a member of the Santoza family, a clan that had been inheritors of an ancient, mystical power for generations. The details of it's origins are lost, but it's effects are clear from point of activation: the power allows its user to draw strength and endurance from those around him and use it for himself.

While this may sound like a godsend, Timothy was not capable of properly harnessing the power. After being taught the finer points of control by a shaman, Santoza applied for the Legion Academy as the Westerner. Being one of the few mystics in the Academy, Santoza strives to keep his temper in check and achieve true inner peace. He was present for the Legion's investigation into the shooting of Laurel Kent, and on several of the cadets training-missions.

Five-Year Gap

Santoza never really managed to shine enough to qualify for Legion membership. After the disbanding of the Legion, Santoza did some commercials for television and some teaching work on the outermost frontier colonies.

Powers and Abilities

Santoza's power is the ability to absorb strength and endurance from others for his own use. This innate attribute runs in his family's bloodline, but never to the level found in Timothy. This is attributed to his years studying under an off world tribal Shaman.

Equipment

As a student of the Legion Academy, Westerner is allowed the use of a Legion Flight Ring. The ring gives its wearer the ability to fly, the speed and range of which is determined by the wearer's willpower. It also acts as a long-range communicator (enabling constant vocal contact with other Legionnaires, even across vast distances of space), a signal device, and a navigational compass, all powered by a micro-computer built inside the ring.
