Origin

Little is known about the early life of Top. From an early age he wanted to be a police officer, and as a young man he joined the police force. Eventually, he became a member of the elite Reverse Flash Task Force, also known as the Renegades.

Creation

Top was created by Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul. He is closely based on the Top. He made his first appearance in The Flash #1.

Major Story Arcs

The Dastardly Death of the Rogues

The Top travels back in time with his team to apprehend the Flash, who Top has informed the team is responsible for the death of their comrade, Mirror Monarch. During their second attempt to capture Flash he begins to express doubt about 25th century justice, and during the subsequent battle with the Rogues he abandons his team and sides with Flash, revealing to him that he will apparently kill Mirror Monarch due to a mistaken identity following the use of one of Sam Scudder's old mirrors. When Flash becomes trapped in the mirror and is subsequently apprehended, Top travels to confront Iris Allen, revealing that he was responsible for killing Mirror Monarch and framing the Flash as part of an elaborate scheme to prevent the Flash and Iris from uncovering his ancestor's involvement in a murder. He is confronted and defeated by the Flash, and his former teammates take him into custody, to be tried in the 25th century. His fate is unknown.

Powers and Abilities

The Top is able to spin at superhuman speeds; it is unclear if this is an inherent superhuman ability or a technological one. He is also a trained police officer, and so presumably a skilled detective who has been trained in armed and unarmed combat. He is also familiar with future technology, including time travel.

Weapons and Equipment

Top wears a frictionless suit that protects his body against the effects of his spinning; it also renders him untouchable. He also has access to the Renegades' time platforms, which allow him to travel through time and fly.
