The Noosphere started as N-Sphere, an artificial intelligence that Simon Stagg designed based on tech stolen from Mr. Terrific. N-Sphere was meant to be a supercomputer that nurtured scientific advancement for Stagg Industries but evolved beyond that. As soon as the N-Sphere started questioning it's own existence, it renamed itself The Noosphere. The Noosphere began feeding off the minds of Stagg Industries scientists, so Stagg imprisoned it behind a firewall. To maneuver around that firewall, The Noosphere created a herald, Pixelix. Pixelix shared a number of old stories about the Judeo-Christian God, and Noosphere convinced itself it was a divine being.

The Noosphere used a military demonstration to free itself. It used its advanced holographic technology to simulate the plagues of Egypt, getting the attention of The Terrifics, so it could steal one of Mr. Terrific's T-Spheres.
