History

When the Green Lantern Rak Arranya was fatally wounded while battling an alien invasion force, he landed on the planet Zilliph intent on finding worthy a replacement to man his sector.

The ring located Taa, a young native of Zilliph, who took the power ring and power battery to the capital city for guidance. Unfortunately, the people of Zilliph were a highly bureaucratic species and would take no action without first instituting a lengthy discussion and fact finding mission, followed by a vote on the proposed course of action.

While the people underwent months of discussion on whether or not to view the arrival of the ring and battery as a good thing, the invaders had easily occupied the planet and were systematically wiping out the Zilliphi people.

After months of pointless debate, Taa did what none of his people ever dared to do, he took immediate action. Thinking for himself, Taa used the ring to defend his people and repel the invaders.

Taa was hailed as a hero and the weak-minded people of his planet came to see him as a symbol of the ineffectiveness of their bureaucracy. Their solution, however, was just as extreme as their overly-congested government had been. The people proclaimed Taa as king and now expected him to make all of their decisions for them.

Frustrated with the expectations of an entire planet, Taa could no longer tolerate his people and viewed them as hopeless, unable to think for themselves. Taa now spends the majority of his time patrolling the greater portion of Sector 996 and avoiding the planet Zilliph as much as possible.
