First issue:
17th century French sages learned how to invoke elemental beings. The elementals represented earth, fire, water and air. The elementals were all beautiful females. However, they lacked souls. Upon death, they were fated to perish completely. Marriage to a human would give the elementals a soul. The sages agrees to marry many of the elementals.
Phantasmo is a descendant of one of these unions. His ancestor, Count De Gablis, married an earth elemental. Occasionally, descendants of these matings will be born with elemental abilities. In 1940, when the Nazis attacked France, Phantasmo's family fled to England.
