History

Penelops is famous throughout the Green Lantern Corps for his incredible willpower, which once allowed him to relocate the orbit of his home world Penelo.  Penelo is an aquatic world whose dominate species lived under the seas.  When Penelo's seas began to mysteriously boil, Penelops investigated the sudden increase in heat emanating from the sun.  Penelops discovered that an alien starship was firing an unknown energy beam into the sun to increase its temperature.  The Green Lantern intercepted this energy beam which prompted the invaders to attack Penelops. He was nearly undone when an energy cannon blasted Penelops on a collision course with the yellow sun, but the powerful Lantern managed to pull himself free of the sun's gravity and board the command ship.

While on board the command ship, Penelops encountered a blue-skinned humanoid race. He learned that these aliens were refugees of a dying world and had been searching for a new planet to call home. The second planet in Penelo's system was ideal in all respects except one; the planet was too cold for the race to survive, prompting them to heat up the sun in an effort to make their prospective home world habitable.

Penelops told the aliens of the impact their actions were having on his planet's ecosystem. While the aliens were distraught over this news, there was nothing they could do to reverse the changes to the sun. Penelops next act immortalized him in Green Lantern lore. He used his tremendous willpower to push his home world into a more distant orbit, relocating the planet to a safe distance from the suns increased output. Thanks to his heroic actions, both species would survive.

Since that time, Penelops has been approached numerous times by fellow Corpsmen seeking his tutelage in developing their willpower to its fullest. Penelops has politely declined all such requests.
