Penelope Pussycat is often mistaken by Pepé Le Pew for a female skunk due to her constantly getting a white-stripe on her back, whether intentionally or not. Pepe often tries to woo Penelope, but the cat just wants to get away because of the skunk's smell. In some cartoons (and comics), Penelope falls in love with Pepe as soon as his smell is disposed of, but, at the same time, the skunk has been revealed to have an ironic fear of overly affectionate women, which reverses the roles.

Retroactive Naming

Until the 1995 release of Carrotblanca, Penelope was a nameless character. She has therefore been given several different monikers over the years, such as "Fifi," "Fabrette," "Penelope" (naturally), "The Black Cat" (not to be confused with the Marvel Comics character of the same name), "The Cat," and even "Le Cat." The slight yet noticeable variations in her original cartoon appearances could possibly be connected to the fact that she was unnamed for so long.

Modern Appearances

Penelope makes a few cameos in modern Looney Tunes media, such as Tweety's High-Flying Adventure, Space Jam, The Looney Tunes Show, and others.
