Origin

On the world of Myar, which was noted for its alchemists, a young man developed a formula that gave him the unique ability to adapt whatever powers he needed to defeat any one opponent. At least, that was the story Nemesis Kid provided when he applied for and was awarded membership of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Creation

Nemesis Kid was created by Jim Shooter and Curt Swan.

Character Evolution

Original Continuity: New Earth

Immediately after Nemesis Kid (along with Karate Kid, Ferro Lad and Princess Projectra) had joined the Legion, the Khund Empire attacked the Earth. In the course of defending the Earth, suspicion arose among the Legion that one of its new members was a traitor. After his attempt to frame Karate Kid was discovered, it was revealed that Nemesis Kid was the traitor. The Legion defeated the Khunds, but Nemesis Kid escaped.

Original Continuity: New Earth

The leader of the Legion of Super-Villains

Nemesis Kid reappeared as one of the earliest members of the Legion of Super-Villains, and became the leader of the group. In an ambitious scheme, the Super Villains transported the planet Orando out of its natural dimension in search of an entire universe to conquer. While trying to thwart the scheme, Karate Kid fought a single combat with Nemesis Kid and was mortally wounded. Projectra avenged him by managing to personally execute Nemesis Kid by breaking his neck despite his superior powers.
