Matthew Belloc adopted Elaine Belloc under suspicious circumstances and raised her as his own. He dies off-panel in Lucifer #21
when he is eaten by the demon Cestis of the Dancing Flesh. Cestis takes on his form in an attempt to ambush his daughter. From this point forward, Cestis is trapped in his form due to the involvement of The Basanos, and all appearances of Mr. Belloc are actually Cestis.
