Origin

Nothing is known about Mister Rumor, beyond rumours and hearsay that filter through the occult community in New York, where he typically resides. He may have been in Calcutta in the late 1990s, during which he may have engaged in cannibalism. At some point he came into the employ of Neron.

Creation

Mister Rumor was created by James Tynion IV, Ming Doyle, and Riley Rossmo. He made his first appearance in Constantine: The Hellblazer #2.

Major Story Arcs

The Hellblazer

Working for his employer, Mister Rumor manages the purchase of dozens of haunted and occult sites around New York. He approaches John Constantine, who is visiting some of the various occult sites his employer owns. Determining that he poses no threat to his employer, he directs Constantine to one of the Thin Places. He later helps Neron negotiate pacts with various demonic factions.

Powers and Abilities

Mister Rumor appears to be an immortal, possibly as a result of a pact with Neron; it is known that he has not physically aged in at least 30 years. He possesses unknown occult powers. He seems to be able to read the truth in people, and to see through illusions, though whether this is an inherent skill or a spell is unknown. He has a great deal of knowledge about Thin Places, where occult energy is strong and the paranormal bleeds through.
