Marianne originally lived on the streets, after she ran away from her abusive father. One day, she returned to the apartment she was squatting in to find Oliver Queen there, who was on the run from authorities. In exchange for helping him, Ollie gives Marianne money to get an apartment, and start college, part of her dream. Later, she becomes an employee at Sherwood Florist.
