Origin

When Jennifer's mother Rachel died in a car accident when she was just 8 years old, Travis Morgan felt that air force bases was not the place to raise his daughter so he sent her to live with her aunt Marie. But Jennifer missed her father. When she was 10 she was informed that he had been killed in a plane crash. Actually, Travis Morgan had landed in Skartaris, unknown to the outside world, and had begun his life as Warlord.

Years later she heard that he had turned up alive and Jennifer learned from Professor George Lakely that her father was still alive in Skartaris. Jennifer went on an expedition to Skartaris on her boat, the Lady J, and was reunited with her father. Promising not to reveal the existence of Skartaris, she set sail again for the outside world. However, her ship was wrecked before she left Skartaris' waters and she ended up the sole survivor of her expedition. Jennifer was found by Faaldren, a servant of the evil wizard Deimos and he took her back to his master's castle.

There, Deimos rendered Jennifer's mind blank. After Warlord defeated Deimos in battle, Deimos' former ally, the witch Aiysha, restored Jennifer back to normal. Aiysha hoped that Jennifer, as a denizen of the outside world would teach her how to use Deimos' machinery. Magically making herself look like Jennifer's mother, Aiysha offered to teach Jennifer sorcery in exchange for being taught technology. The offer was accepted, and Jennifer made rapid progression in learning magic. Finally, Jennifer learned the truth about Aiysha, who attacked her father. Jennifer now used her knowledge of sorcery to battle Aiysha, who appeared to be destroyed at the conclusion of their fight. Jennifer then decided to remain at Deimos' castle and hone her sorcery skills.

Creation

Jennifer Morgan is a DC Earth One character and was created by Mike Grell.

Character Evolution

Jennifer led a tragic life, losing her mother young, shortly followed by her father's supposed death in a plane crash. However, she discussed through her professor her father was still alive and set out to find him. She managed to meet up with her father and was on her way back to Earth but was taken to Deimos' castle when his assistant found her by a shipwreck. Mind emptied, Jennifer was then tricked by Aiysha who disguised herself as this young girl's mother. Memory restored, Jennifer taught her "mother" everything she knew about technology in return for learning about magic. The pupil proved herself superior to her teacher when she discovered the truth and defeated the witch, becoming the most powerful sorceress in Skartaris.

Major Story Arcs

Evil Incarnate

Upon defeating her former teacher, Jennifer left the group & devoted herself to the magics (Dark & Light) so much so that her father Morgan noticed the changes immediately upon seeing her again. Not one for idle visits, Morgan recruited the help of his daughter in traveling time so he could rescue one friend from another, to which she agreed to assist. Her help was an unsuspected Blessing, as even after rescuing Morgan's friends they met a foe in the form of 'The Evil One', a magical being who was the embodiment of all the evil in the world and surpassed every mage there. Jennifer would devise a plan to draw him out & combat him, even matching his abilities evenly for a time.

The Evil one's threat was postponed when they destroyed the source of his overwhelming powers (the Necronomicon), but Jennifer knew that there was no such thing as destroying evil and fully expected to see the chief of demons again. Her powers amazed the Wizards, with Mondo suggesting she could pull off opening the Black Pyramid, something even the Evil one failed to do.

The calm before..

Jennifer would be called upon to help Morgan's friend, a werewolf cursed man whose powers and bloodthirst were too severe to go unchecked. She manipulated time so everyone could view how he came to be and after some research found a way to free this friend of the curse. Shortly after, they would need to return home to their own time or be left in the land of the Wizards.... & the Evil one. Feeling homesick, Jennifer, Morgan, & Shakira head through the Mirror but then Jennifer realizes her father didn't make it back with her. Tirelessly she keeps the mirror portal open for them, & after their Post-apocalyptic adventure Shakira & Morgan turn up fine. She left the portal open too long and let in beings from another dimension in, though eventually, she was able to get help from her father in rounding up the beings and sending them on their way.

For a time, Jennifer was content with watching from her mirror over her father during his adventures instead of tagging along. When Morgan's presence vanished... or rather was HIDDEN due to powerful opposing magics, she pushed enough to follow a faint/untraceable trail and set out to find her father. Along the way, she bumped into a curious little thief who tried to take their valuables but after he made an illusion of a train (something that only exists outside of Skartaris) she kept him close by while searching for her father. As typical with little ones, the boy poked his head where he shouldn't have and stumbled upon the modern-day remains of The Evil One's lair.

The Evil One returns

The kids pick up a gem radiating with The Evil One's essence, & before he can use their body as a bridge to the Physical plane Jennifer wards off his magic and hides the gem from the boys. Having postponed looking for her father due to the seriousness of this threat & taking it back to her castle, the gem is slowly even affecting Jennifer but her comrades convince her to lock it away from even herself as to let him on this plane would spell disaster for Earth. Eventually, curiosity takes over the boy's pet/friend & it becomes a vessel for The Evil One & the damage is so severe Morgan is reunited with his daughter due to the scale of the threat. Jennifer is helpless before this new version of The Evil One, but after some research Morgan & Jenny find only an ancient sword will slay this incarnation. While The Evil One wreaks havok, the father/daughter duo go to retrieve the sword and return to do battle... but it is not them who claim victory but the mysterious young boy (Morgan's son) who delivers the killing blow with the sword to The Evil One.

War for Skartaris

Now with Father & Daughter reunited & the mysterious boy going as silently as he appeared, Morgan tells Jennifer of the War for Skartaris going on. Jennifer helps her heroic father & even stops a volcanic eruption threatening the region. After this Jenny aids her father in the fight against the invading king of the land, a Mystic Cyclops tapping into a power source greater than The Evil One. Fighting someone with such mystic might and at her mystic disadvantage takes a toll on even the Sorceress Supreme, & in protecting her father Jenny is seemingly hit with a blast that ages her to the point of barely functioning.

Understanding that his baby girl was handicapped & still took every blow alongside her father, Morgan pulled all resources available and set out to find a cure for his daughter's condition. Traveling across the world, Morgan was gone for many days & nights while Jennifer waited on her father. After a while, Jennifer's condition waned while Morgan hopelessly went from one sorcerer to another until he found the guy responsible.... revealing it was a second blast that hit her on top of the first one. Morgan is losing the fight when Jennifer Senses her father's dire position and confronts the man despite her aging, destroying the magics that aged her & saving her father from aging himself.

Pushing back the inevitable

After this encounter, Jennifer is returned to her normal age but due to the trauma, her magics are not at full power. Adventure waits on no one as even in her weakened state she is called to defend against an evil force possessing the Kryptonian Power Girl. The Kryptonian puts up a fight, but goes down & after Power Girl is broken from her spell do they both go after the Demon responsible.

They both take on the Demon but even with their combined might the Eldritch entity takes their attacks & even wounds them both. Changing tactics, the women get this staff away from him & use it to blast the demon to molecules decisively ending the threat. The girls then save the day a few more times before Jennifer urges her new friends to return to the surface, where they need her (according to the Elementals Jenny consulted with). Reluctant to leave her new friend & home, Power Girl returns to the surface stating they will forever be sisters.

Between the Volcanic Eruption & the moon being seemingly held in place by power alone, Jennifer has become suspicious that these are just precursors to an Evil far more overwhelming than anything in recorded history. After consulting with the Elementals again they confirm her theory, & with her father mysteriously gone it is up to her alone to save Skartaris from untold destruction. Tracing the power, she finds the moon is held in place by another fellow sorceress so they scuffle back & forth but Jennifer fails to defeat her in time to the summoning of Anu. With the universe & 9 planes of reality all threatened @ once, Jennifer ups the risk factor & summons demons so powerful each requires something substantial in return... to which she obliges. Unfortunately, even these beings are fodder to the Universal Worm & before all hope is lost Morgan returns with good news... and the God-horn. The God horn, meant to send Anu sleeping eons more takes time to use so between Jennifer shielding Morgan from attacks & Morgan learning the frequency they both save the Universe and delay the cosmic destruction.

Outside of her introduction into Skartaris, Jennifer would appear when magic was needed to serve her father, taking on other sorcerers and wizards when the need arose. When the mad Spectre went on a killing spree to kill all magic on Earth, Jennifer Morgan was present at the magic bar owned by Nightmaster when the Enchantress and Ragman arrived looking for help. Lady Jennifer learns from the duo just how powerful the Spectre really is when she is told he had been able to wipe out more than a hundred trained wizards who met annually and so joins other "homo magi" heroes to defeat him. She is later seen with all the serving mystics of the DC universe trying to find and repair the damaged Rock of Eternity who is causing wild magic to spread around Gotham. During this act, Lady Jennifer is somehow possessed by one of the seven deadly sins but Phantom Stranger easily exorcises from the evil force her.

Lady Jennifer has become supreme sorceress of Skartaris and aided her father when he was alive but now aids her half-brother Tinder (Joshua), and stepmother Tara when the need arises. At the end of the last story, she is seen welcoming her new baby half-sister Morgana into the world and assisting the baby in closing up the portal leading into Skartaris from Earth forever.

Powers and Abilities

Lady Jennifer is a powerful sorceress and has the strength of a physically fit young woman. She has various spells and a magical mirror that allows her to see wherever she wants.

Jennifer Morgan is a very powerful magic user. She can use magic to alter reality itself. Unlike many DC magical users, she does not need to say any words to use her power. This is impressive because only the most powerful magical characters are able to do that. She has used magic for many uses such as:

• Pyrokinesis-Generation and control of fire.
• Aerokinesis- Generation and control of the air.
• Cryokinesis-Generation and control of ice.
• Hydrokinesis- Control of water.
• Geokinesis- Control of earth.
• Chlorokinesis- Control over plants.
• Thermokinesis- Able to manipulate the temperature of a place to stay warm in cold environments.

Jennifer Morgan uses of sorcery gives her access to a ton of other powers. For example, Flight, weather control, healing, illusion casting, reality-warping, telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, force field generation, dimensional travel, size alteration, spectral sight, mystical invulnerability, probability manipulation, memory manipulation (erasing and altering people's memories), superhuman strength, superhuman durability and extraction and teleportation of souls (she only uses this ability in dire situations).

Some of Jennifer's notable feats include temporarily matching The Evil One (someone who has shaken Earth), tanking attacks from someone stronger than The Evil One, countering a volcanic eruption, holding back an Island level tidal wave, tanking-attacks from Power Girl, shields tanking blasts that crushed Power Girl's ribs, & shielding fire (1-2)/Ice (1-2) attacks from Anu itself. She was also stated to be on par with Enchantress/Zatanna at a bare minimum and more powerful than Dr. Occult.

In the Justice League Unlimited episode titled, "Chaos at the Earth's Core" Some Justice League members (Stargirl, Supergirl, Green Lantern, and S.T.R.I.P.E. went to the core of the earth in order to help the underworld kingdom, Skartaris. Jennifer Morgan was the princess who helped the Justice League fought Deimos and his henchmen.
