History

There is only one recorded account of the Green Lantern of Sector 3009, whose adventure was intertwined with the story of his more famous predecessor, Stel of Grenda. After Stel was brutally deactivated at the hands of Krona during the Nekron War, a new champion of Space Sector 3009 was chosen to wield the ring of power.

In the Lantern's only recorded appearance, he handled himself well in defending the robotic people of Grenda from genocide at the hands of the Krydos. The Krydos viewed the clockwork people of Grenda as an abomination of life and an insult to their God the Creator. Their intolerance prompted the Krydos to commit repeated attacks on Grenda, in an attempt to slaughter all life on the planet. During one such raid, The Green Lantern of Sector 3009 arrived and quickly began dismantling the Krydos warships. His work was interrupted by the arrogant Yron, who leaped into the air and grabbed hold of the Lantern demanding to be taken to see the Guardians.

Earlier that day, Yron had been slandering the memory of Stel, labeling the fallen Lantern as a failure for dying in battle before ending the Krydos raids on Grenda. Seeing the Green Lantern of Sector 3009 fly into action sent Yron into a fit of rage and jealously. Angered that the Guardians of the Universe chose an "offworlder" to protect his people, Yron leaped at his sector's Lantern, crying injustice that he was not selected by the Guardians. Yron seized the Lantern from behind and proclaimed him "useless", deciding that only someone who knew how to fight the Krydos should be selected to wage war against them. Still suspended in flight, Yron grasped the Lantern in a vice-like hold and threatened to snap him like a twig unless he took Yron to Oa.

The Lantern agreed to take Yron to Oa, but not before informing the presumptuous robot that he was not frightened in the least. However, for Yron's own sake, the Green Lantern of Sector 3009 brought the upstart to face the Guardians. The Guardians were unimpressed by Yron's immature boasting and inflated ego, but appointed him a Green Lantern in order to aid Grenda in it's hour of need. Yron's shortcomings would soon be exposed as his actions in defending Grenda only lead to further death and destruction. However, Yron redeemed himself when he merged his dying body with the deactivated shell of Stel, restoring the legendary Green Lantern to his former glory. Stel easily defeated Grenda's invaders and resumed his career as the Green Lantern of Sector 3009.

It is unknown what happened to Stel's replacement after the events with Yron of Grenda. The Guardians sudden appointment of Yron was an unorthodox deviation from the normal selection process. Presumably, the Green Lantern of Sector 3009 continued to serve the Corps after Yron's induction, but no further exploits have been recorded and it is uncertain if the Green Lantern of Sector 3009 remains in active duty.
