When Beast Boy returned to Hollywood to pick up his acting career from his childhood days, the mercenaries known as Fear and Loathing were hired to attack him. After instigating a riot on the streets, they later attacked him and his cousin in the latter's apartment. Flamebird catches them and it is revealed that they were hired by Gemini for her revenge scheme.

Both Fear and Loathing are equipped with empathic transmitters that cause their said emotions in others. They also carry a number of weapons.
