As a child Alejandra was about to die after an encounter with a venous snake. In order to save her life Alejandra's mother allowed Spyral to experiment on her. Spyral offered to keep Alejsndra's family safe in exchange for becoming an agent. After being caught by heroes and sent to prison Amanda Waller offered her to protect her family from Spyral in exchange for joining the Suicide Squad.
