Origin

Angle Man is master thief and a con man who hailed from Italy and possessed the triangular, reality-warping Angler. The Angle Man would often use this enchanted set square to evade being caught, as it allowed him to teleport and confuse would be capturers. Initially the Angle Man's self styled gimmick would be to play his crimes from as many angles as he could think of. The powerful warrior and superhero Wonder Woman would often stop his crimes and defeat the would be super villain. Eventually joining up with the Secret Society of Super-Villains Angle Man, donned his now trademark green and yellow suit as well as acquiring a special powered Penrose triangle. Once, when sent by Cheetah to steal pieces of an ancient relic, he was confronted by Troia otherwise known as Donna Troy. Smitten with her, he turned against Cheetah, and helped to defeat her. More recently, he teamed up with Film Freak to take down Catwoman. Following that, he attended Troia's funeral, and then allied himself with Circe in a battle against Wonder Woman.

Creation

Angle Man is a DC Comics character, created by Robert Kanigher and Harry G. Peter. He first appears as "Angle" Andrews in Wonder Woman #62, of her first volume, released in 1953. In Wonder Woman #70 of the same volume he appears as the Angle Man. The character is later reintroduced by Phil Jimenez for DC's New Earth continuity, in Wonder Woman #179 her second volume. The character is yet to reappear in the DCnU.

Character Evolution

Angle Man was a minor villain and recurring threat against the Golden Age and Silver Age Wonder Woman, but died during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Angle Man, Fireworks Man and Mouse Man were members of the short-lived Academy of Arch-Villains. He was eventually modernized as Angelo Bend for the then updated DC continuity. The inspiration for the character seems based on the Penrose triangle, which is an impossible object, named as such as they were two dimensional shapes that appeared as three dimensional, but would have been impossible as such. They would appear three dimensional by virtue of optical illusion. Angle Man's trademark item the Angler essentially being an optical illusion achievable as three dimensional given the nature of the comic book medium.

New 52

Angle Man appears alongside many other villains in the Forever Evil mini-series, gathered together by the Crime Syndicate to reveal they had defeated the Justice League.

Infinite Frontier

For unknown reason Angle Man launched an offensive on New York City using an army of Bizarro Clones however he was defeated by the Justice Society of America.

Whilist locked up in Belle Reve it was revealed Angelo had discovered the 'Angle' a missing piece of formula that completes the Anti-Life Equation. Believing himself to be just a simple thief who found some triangle, prolific use of it thereafter soon cost him any hint of sanity. Despite Amanda Waller dismissing him as an idiot, the Sovereign believes he is a valuable asset in his war against Wonder Woman.

Some time later Angelo would work with Dr. Psycho to lure Wonder Woman out into the open at the Washington Monument. Making his Angle act as an amplifier for Dr. Psycho's telepathy to better Steve Trevor, in order to lure her into the Sovereign's ambush. A backlash from the strain endured in trying to interfere with the Wonder Woman's mind knocked both interlopers out cold as Wonder Woman did defeated with their team mates.

Powers and Abilities

Using the Angler a magical set square, Angle Man can teleport, bend space and perspective, warp perceptions, and alter gravity. Otherwise Angle Man appears ordinarily normal.
