1st Appearance

ADELE DORIS DREW first appeared (as spirit) in the May 1996 issue of Starman #19.

Origins

Ms. Drew met with the original Starman, Ted Knight and eventually fell in love, married, and raised two sons, Jack and David Knight. However, she died of a fatal illness when the boys were still children. Ted’s previous fiancé, also named Doris, had been murdered in the 1940’s.

Young Jack was unable to see his mother before she died in the hospital, and this left a deep emotional scars that did not begin to heal until years later.

When David died, Jack became Starman (the seventh of this line), and David’s spirit (with some help from Kent Nelson) arranged for Jack to meet his mother one final time on the spiritual plane.
