Papa Bear was one of the Three Bears family, introduced in the cartoon short "Bugs Bunny and the Three Bears" (1944). He is the shortest member of the family though his voice is the gruffest. He is the only member of the family with at least average intellect and openly resents the stupidity of his wife and son. They had their own series of cartoon shorts from 1948 to 1951.
