Star Trek Canon Special Note
Not everything listed in the origin is Canon.  That is because only television shows and movies are considered canon.  This being a comic website there are many things here that are not canon.  So unless it is contradicted in film it should be listed as part of the character biography.  
 
Gabrielle grew up on the New Milan Colony until it was destroyed by the Tholians.  She and her two brothers were the only ones to survive from her family.  She then moved New Venice Colony on Mars.  Before she served on the U.S.S. Enterprise with Captain Christopher Pike she was a member of the crews of both the U.S.S. Redoubt and later the U.S.S. Nelson.  On the Enterprise she served as a nurse in sickbay with Doctor Phillip Boyce.

Creation

Gabrielle was created for the Star Trek: Early Voyages comic.  She was meant to fill out the original crew that was seen in the very first pilot episode of the original series.  She had a role along the line of characters like Nurse Christine Chapel and Nurse Alyssa Ogawa.
