In the Resident Evil games Richard is bitten by a massive snake. In the original game, he dies when you give him the medicine. In the remake when you give him the anti poison, he is healed and he can help you in your battle against the giant snake, but he dies at the end of the fight protecting the player or he can not help you. If he does not help you then he appears at the aqua ring but gets eaten.
