When the Projector was lost in the collapse of the Rift, Dog 54-Alpha stayed behind to protect Omni-Engine, who was close to death. Disregarding intense pain that would have crippled most men and women, the beast stayed with his new master until help came in the form of Nephilim and Silver Man. It is noteworthy that Dog 54-Alpha shows intense dislike for Meridian.

Origin

Dog 54-Alpha or otherwise known as Rascal, is a super powered animal and pet and superhero. The canine was rescued from a shelter by the superhero First Force member and hero the Projector. Rascal would be adept and proficiency in search and rescue work, and eventually both the Projector and Omni-Engine would outfit the canine in a variety if cybernetic implants and upgrades creating one of the first pet heroes. As a result Dog 54-Alpha is extremely loyal and protective of Projector and Omni-Engine. Unfortunately Projector would be a casualty of the Rift collapse event, in which several heroes were lost. Dog 54 Alpha would heroically protect and safeguard an injured and near death Omni-Engine, despite subjecting itself to incredible pain and hostile danger. Silver Man and Nephilim would eventually arrive and rescue both. Dog 54-Alpha has his own set of enemies, Hyper Cat and The Final Five. Also of note is that Dog 54-Alpha appears to dislike Meridian.

Creation

Dog 54-Alpha is a Boom! Studios published character that first appears in the 2012 series Deathmatch, appearing in its debut issue Deathmatch #1. Dog 54-Alpha is designed and created by writer Paul Jenkins and artists Carlos Magno and Michael Garland, writers and artists of the series.

Character Evolution

Dog 54-Alpha plays a supporting role in Deathmatch, and is distinguished as being the only pet creature participating in the death matches.

Major Story Arcs

Deathmatch

Dog 54-Alpha is transported along with an assortment of superheroes and villains into a giant closed structure where they are imprisoned and restricted. They are confused and disorientated not knowing the circumstance of this mass transportation, the method behind it or those who are orchestrating the situation. There powers and memories and personalities have and are being tampered with, and powerful light guards that restrict physical hostility unless its as a part of the death matches. They are all also aware they are being systemically pitted against each other in one on one fights to the death. Dog 54-Alpha is forced into battle with George Truman and is killed.

Powers and Abilities

Dog 54-Alpha possesses enhanced physical attributes, super strength, super speed, increased fitness, agility and stamina. Dog 54-Alpha possesses a sixth sense that can alert him to danger and is incredibly loyal and vigilant.
